Volunteers Networking Party (25/04)

A very funny networking party: Saturday Night Clever

Dear readers,
Last saturday was a very special day for lot of young (and less young) people. VYA organized a networking party to let experienced volunteer share their stories to everyone.

Most of participants have never been involved in international work camp(IWC) projects but they just wanted to know more about this amazing experience before taking part!
Lot of people indeed already decided to be a volunteer but they didn't really know exactly what a IWC looks like, what kind of work they have to do, what kind of people they will meet then. This melting pot (beginners and experienced people) was successfull .

Everyone had to wear a sticker with his/her name and the country they went/wanted to go as volunteer.

It's dead simple and efficent: you look at your neighbour and know everything about him/her ahaha (You can see one the picture that sylvia & Ruby have been to philipinnes). Confirmed volunteers had a colorfull bracelet, which meant that they have been volunteer at least once in their life. I was one of them!

Many curious guys came by my side and asked me more information about Work camps in France. Actually i have been volunteer in Taiwan (orchid island) but as a French, i had some tips for them and did my best to help them preparing their trip. After discussing about travels, projects with many young people, some experienced volunteers told their work camp story to everyone through pictures or funny movies.

An awesome taiwanese guy shared his 2 weeks trip in Mongolia : nice experience! He played with local kids (and even bought a bike for them!), he has built an house with all the volunteers in the Work camp.

An adventurous taiwanese girl called Yoyo also tell us her long term work camp experience in southern france. She described very well the work she did there and how she struggled with french words and foreign language with volunteer and local people. Actually, the many words she can speak in french are very..usefull..and local (it's funny haha), it's not the french you can learn in the books (cute!) Yoyo and I commented a movie about volunteer in France.

Everyone was captivated by volunteer stories
we learnt a lot each other and shen the party ended, we made many friends and/or future work camp buddies ^_^
